Wall Tent For Hunting I think for a hunting tent this is the best one but it would need a hole cut in it for a wood heater if needed.

I just read the reviews on it and it should stand up to most all hunting trips. I have camped in a wall tent in the snow for a week in northern Canada when working. The tent in the photo to the left looks like it would work the same as the tent we used. Just be careful you will need some kind of heater for winter camping. You will also need to get your beds set up. Your beds should be up  off the snow a bit .

I think a wood heater is in order for this type of tent camping then have it so it can hook to trees for a more stable or to the canopy of a truck.  I believe you can buy the heat resistant stove pipe hole for a tent at Amazon.com. The hole or outlet for the stove pipe has to be all fire proof. The warmth of a real fire is  priceless after a day out hunting in the winter. Having a tent set up as a kitchen or with a kitchen is also a big help.

A great idea to get your tent set up wind proof is to bury a log in the snow on either side of the tent and rope the tent to the log. What I need to do is get a tent and set up a winter camp in the back yard to show how to do it and to remember all the things you would need to check before you set out camping.

When choosing a saw for camp use I would recommend the Husqavarna or Stilth in a size that will take and handle at least a 20 or 22 cutting bar. Cutting dry fire wood is one of the hardest uses for a power saw the reason is the air intake gets plugged up with the dry dust from the wood. I worked running power saw professionally for many years logging. What I am trying to do is find a bigger used power saw at a garage sale to fix up for me that is the best way because I worked as a saw mechanic fixing saws at one time. The smaller cheap saws just burn up cutting firewood. This one is the best I could find at Amazon at a great price.

If you set up to move big game or even just deer having a rope and pulley is a cheap easy way to go. The idea is to hook to the animal with the rope and have the rope across the road. Have the pulley  tied firmly to a tree and the rope through it and to your vehicle then when you back up it pulls the game onto the road.

I have used this system to bring a moose up a two hundred foot bank and set it on the road for me. I was working in three feet of snow so packing the animal would have been a killer job. With this set up and the help of a few other hunters that showed up I had this moose on the road in a half hour. It was was field dressed and loaded in two hours. The block I have is from an industrial supply center and a lot heaver. My thought is I only ever have to buy one of these.

The guys that showed me how to set this simple system up brought a large moose up a steep hill two hundred yards. They moved a seven hundred pound moose up a two hundred hill across fifty yards of swamp. I seen where they did it and were loaded in two hours as well. The only time they worked was to walk back up the hill , that was with out having to pack any meat .
