your basic needs. The best way to keep alive is to have as much help as you can in the best defence position. But you need to have what you need to stay healthy as well so your big concerns are going to be, water is number one. Food is second. Heat and shelter for all in your group. “summary: this book is the best of all the disaster preparedness books currently on the market. I’ve read them all… Spigareli’s, Rawles’, Lundins’, etc. I have a nice collection, and each book certainly offers a new perspective. But if you want a one-book solution to disaster preparedness (or emergency preparedness), the Handbook to Practical Disaster Preparedness is it. It is very well edited, cites hundreds of sources to justify the recommendations, has more than a hundred tables and figures, and is up to date — including discussing the nuclear events that happened in Japan in 2011. Of course, it covers all kinds of natural and man-made disasters, but it also clearly outlines why our country is facing a “grave and serious” financial crisis and provides steps that you can take to minimize the damage to your family. Timely stuff given the stock market mayhem.”

into trying to make do with nothing if you are going to live , learn to do it with what you have and can get fast. One great idea is a book to write down your needs then do a list of what you should have with you. Also use a long term plan. Keep all in your group informed you need to function as a team. One person does not make the team, divide and learn who you can trust with what chore. learn to use every thing around you to your advantage do not take chances and do not waste energy.

Health is energy dependant, food and water are energy. You need to change your values to basic needs first. You can have all the weapons you need in the world but it will mean nothing if you freeze to death. The same if you die of thirst ,starvation or hypothermia. Sickness can wipe you out fast as well. In a survival situation a gallon of bleach or to could be your best line of defence. As a species we carry a huge supply of knowledge to fall back on when in tough situations this is your best line of defence against most all harm full situations. Survival is a long term project not a battle to be won. Your best defence is to be the best prepared you can be.
