Meat Game Style

Meat game in most instances is meat from animals that are free range.  These animals roam from the property of one land owner to the next, foraging for food.  Meat game can consist of different types of fowl to the four-legged type of animal.

Anything that runs wild and doesn’t have to be taken care of by a human is wild game.  That doesn’t mean we want to eat all of them, but they are there if we do.  One example is squirrel meat game.  Some people love to eat squirrel, but others consider it beneath them to eat something that looks more like a rodent.

There are certain seasons of the year that make it legal for licensed hunters to shoot and kill free range animals, and that my friend is our favorite time of the year.  Hunting Season!

Hunting season brings with it outdoor mania, with guns, knives, and even the quiet bow and arrow. It is the time of year people can get food for their families and enjoy the outdoors at the same time.  Meat game always taste better than store bought, because you brought it to the table yourself!

Other Ways to Get Meat Game

There are some places that kill and process meat game to sell.  They kill, process, and offer it up in a retail outlet.  Some people want the meat game, but prefer to know where it was raised and what it was fed.  They also don’t like to hunt in most cases.

There are also places where you can pay a fee to go and hunt game.  These places are usually stocked with elk, deer, antelope, hogs, turkeys, and other normally free range animals.  You pay a fee for what you want to kill and are allowed to kill only that animal.

Many people prefer hunting, but like knowing the animals are fenced in and can’t go far.  Others feel this takes some of the sport out of hunting meat game, but, everyone has an opinion on that.

Unlike meat you buy at the grocery store, meat game is not inspected by the government.  The Department of Agriculture is not required to, so they don’t.  In the States, meat can be inspected by a state agency if you want to legally sell the meat.

This means it is very important to know if the meat is inspected if you purchase from a place that sells it retail.  The safest route

Inflatable Boats for Hunting hi I have been hunting for many years. I have had to use a boat when hunting a few times. I have not hunted water foul very much at all and not for many years.  I think the new Inflatable boats are well worth taking a second look at for moose hunting lake shore.  I spoke with other hunters that camp at lakes when hunting. The moose hunters I talked to said someone usually gets there bull from a boat every year.

The method is  truly basic they just take the boat away from camp and hunt early morning and late evening. Then cruise the shore line quietly and watch for game. This is also where hunting with a  camera would come in handy. It would be great to store memories of what you see  even if it is just a beautiful sunset. Some days those are the best photo opportunity of the day.

The new inflatable boats for hunting can take an electric motor as well, in most cases, or you can just paddle. If you get a moose, you are going to want at least a four man boat to carry the weight safely. Let me dispel some fears on this hunting plan. If  you are thinking that when you shoot a moose, in the water the moose may sink. This will not happen,moose float. At least not in a lake the reason is moose hair is hollow and like deer the carcass will float. Some times you could pull them with a small boat right close to camp and skid the animal out on shore with your truck.

Then there is a lot of danger in shooting a moose in a swamp that you can not access from the lake? Some times you just have to use reasonable judgement and let the animal go for another day. It can also just mean you have to move him down the shore line using a cow call. I can see this idea not working extremely well, but it may be quite fun to try.

With these few items, you can increase your chances of getting your moose by two or three hundred %. Doing this may cost a lot to set up but when you have the set up it can be used for many things and last a lot of years.

The included inflatable seats were easy to install, but a heads up removing them after you’re finished for the day; deflate them a bit while they are still attached inside the boat as this makes them much easier to remove from the clamps holding them in place. The included oars are not the best quality, but they will do in a pinch. Also, the rings that hold the oars on the outside of the boat are not the best. A good bump on the oar and into the water it will fall. My wife and I were easily able to carry the boat into the lake after it was fully inflated.

We also purchased the Intex motor mount and the Minn Kota Endura 30 (electric trolling motor, note that if you decided to put a motor of any kind on this boat, you will need to have it registered). The mount is very easy to assemble and the trolling motor is very light and easy to attach. We also purchased a 125 amp hour deep cycle battery for this boat and were a bit worried about the weight of the battery for an inflatable boat. We were soon to learn there was no reason to worry. The boat held the weight of the extremely heavy battery just fine. My wife and I were on the lake for almost 2 hours. It’s not a speed boat, but it will get you where you want to go. This boat would be perfect for people wanting to fish or swim, or someone who is interested in a very leisurely cruise on the open water. My wife and I highly recommend this inflatable boat. For the price, durability, ease of setup and storage it’s hard to go wrong. A+++

Setting the Trap

Moose hunting is rather easy they are not to smart until they start evading you. But if you can figure there weak points and bad habits it becomes easy . The trick I use is to wait until late season. If I get a limited entry draw especially want it late season.

What you need to know is they like to lay down and sleep in the sun most of the afternoon. They do this on an open hill side above their feeding spot. I learned this trick after we shot our bull at eleven o’clock five seasons in a row.

Moose hunting what we were doing is going out in prime time at daylight and missing the bulls moving down into the feed areas or up into them. Moose they like willow patches but not all types and not at all times. But we were coming out of the back end of the logging road at about eleven o’clock and we would catch one on the road. This is the best place to catch them because you do not want to pack a load of moose meat very far.

The Best Shot On Him

So what you need to find is moose tracks crossing the road a lot, in and out of one cut block or clearing. I look for a place where the moose have to cross the road to get to the cut block or clearing. This is not to hard most logging roads follow a creak or river and the feed areas are along the water ways most times.

The moose will not cross in the same spot very many times so there will be a few different places they will have been crossing. Just find this spot and set up at about 10:00 AM and wait if the sun is warm they will walk right to you. If it is really cold and the sun is shining they will come out to the opening to bed down. The odd thing is the moose will cross at the same time but not always the same place.

I have worked this plan to success many times . The scouting for this set up is to go up on the opening on cloudy days when the moose do not come out to sun and find there bedding spots and see what kind of places they like.I found there is not much pattern to it.

Mostly you want to get an idea of how long your shots are going to be and how to get in line for each bedding spot . There bedding spot is usually where they can see a good distance to ward the road. The moose like to bed in the sun with an escape route near them but not always. My theory is they are addicted to sunshine on cold days. Knowing this one habbit has got me over ten moose.

How To Set A Deer Trap  and Get Your Big Buck

 How To Set A Deer TrapThe trick here is to get to the ridge between the deer and the thicket with out being noticed. Then zig- zag a walk along the ridge moving as a deer walks. You walk just a few paces and stop and listen like three steps, stop, two steps and stop just a random walk moving very slow. Then get down low to the ground now and then to look along the ground.  Most times you will see the deers lower legs through the trees first.It does not really matter if they smell you or hear you, if you do this right they will know you are there and hear you but they will still try and go around you using the cover of the ridge. The reason for this is the deer will want to get to the thick woods for cover they do not like to run away from their safe spot.It will usually take a good hunter a few try’s to get this trick working but when you know where the deer are and what they need do not ever doubt your chance of getting the animal in your sites. One of the biggest mistakes most hunters make is thinking deer run away and you will never find them.The best time to scout the ridge is in the afternoon when the deer are bedded. You will see there trails and rubs, check to be sure they are using this place. Create a plan to get between the deer and the thicket. Find your shooting lanes while you are scouting.  Deer will circle around you to get to the thick cover. They will use the terrain to do this trying to get the ridge between you and the deer. What I have done is as soon as I get the deer moving move back down the ridge and set up to catch them entering the thicket.  When the land has these four settings the deer need it can be done. I have found them 100 % of the time.The best way to find these areas is to drive along a creek or river until the areas come into view. If you can learn to trap a deer you will never have a bad deer season again.When you learn this you will need a very good hunting and skinning knife. Would it not be more fun to go back to camp with out driving for miles wasting gas after gutting your deer and have a beer.  Would this not be more fun when you can celebrate success and put life in your hunting.
