Camping tents,I have done bush camping in mid winter in northern BC and it was okay we were working so we were out there for a week. It was a skill to learn the first time the Helicopter drops you in a opening and you have one afternoon in late fall to get everything set up. The time is maybe four hours until dark and you have to set up the wall tent and get fire wood and have your bed set up above the snow preferably . That little idea of camping igloo stile,  stuff it . That is a desperation measure for survival and a good one to know and a better one to never have to use.

This type of work tent set up is great and if done right can be very comfortable. It is the same tent camping used for hunting camps when they do fly in guiding trips. Those hunting Guides go for a bit more luxury because the money is way better. The important thing is to prepare for the conditions you are going to encounter if you are summertime camping just for a fishing trip just use a nylon shell to keep the bugs out and tarp it before it rains . I lot’s of times just used the tarp and was to lazy to pitch the tent, if the bugs were not to bad. I have had some good sleeps go bad when getting two excited to stop fishing in the spring and set up a proper tent. I remember waking up under the canoe and seeing a inch of snow on the ground those are the mornings you are awake before the first coffee. The only good part is a lot of times that was the best time for fly fishing the fish were cold very active and starving after the winter under the ice.Tent campingis  a great way to go for a weekend when you are young but to camp as you get older it is harder to get comfortable and it takes more preparation.

The set up for hunting campingis or should be a lot more thought out we usually try to take a trailer at least one or set wall tents up with heat and keep it ready in case the odd bear walks in then you see the value of precision reloading . The truth is by that time of year the bears are way to busy setting up for the winter to be any where around camp sites.

“It’s easier to set up than you would think. I’m a 5’7″, 130-lb woman and set it up by myself. The instructions are attached to the inside of the bag next to the zipper (as they always are on Coleman tents with zipper bags). It took about 30 minutes because attaching the guy lines takes a little while, as does finding spots to drive the stakes w/o hitting rocks. Once the guy lines are attached, you don’t have to do it again. The most frustrating part was raising the center poles by myself. They are very long and really could use 4 hands instead of 2, but after fiddling with them just right I got them up in 10 minutes or so. With 2 hands, they tend to just fall over and make S shapes instead of dome shapes due to their length vs. strength. But like I said, I got them up. The sides poles are easy. The poles are color-coded (per the instructions) with red or grey stickers, but after you set the tent up once, you can tell which poles are which w/o needing the color coding. The side poles are thinner than the center dome poles. Our poles were not red and grey like the poles in the picture on this website. They were all black.” Camping tents
