Camping Recipes For The Campfire
Camping Recipes For The Campfire
Not everyone camps where there is electricity, nor do they use a propane stove. Some people just love cooking in an old fashioned campfire, and you would be surprised at the great camping recipes you can create! Camping recipes for the campfire are fairly simple to make, and here are the things you will need to do so.
- Rack/grate to place over fire for cooking pots
- Large roll of heavy-duty aluminum foil
- Camp Fire Grill
- Positive Thinking
- Frying Pan (iron skillet is best)
- Pan for soups/stew/boiling
You may be wondering about the positive thinking that was listed, but it is important to “know” you can create practically any meal you desire on a campfire. It may take a little practice, but sometimes the worst accidents turn into the best camping recipes.
- Hobo Stew
- Cornbread (best in iron skillet)
- Chilli
- Fried fish(if you catch any)
- Fried potatoes
- Pinto Beans (to go with the cornbread)
Anything you can cook in a pot at home you can probably cook on the campfire, but there are ways of cooking great meals without a pot as well. There are many variations of this recipe, but here is the general idea.
Take a piece of heavy-duty foil about 12 x 12 inches and place a raw hamburger patty in the middle. The patty should already be seasoned. Then slice some potatoes (one serving) on top of the hamburger patty. Next put some green beans (one serving) on top of the potatoes. Salt and pepper the vegetables and then tightly seal the foil.
Prior to making these individual meals, get the fire on your campfire burning really good. You need coals to place the foil packets on, or even in. Once you have everyone’s individual meal made, place them in the coals for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. You won’t believe how good this mouth watering meal is! All the flavors cooked together in the same juice is just heaven. You can exchange the meat with chicken, and any vegetable you like because they will all be delicious. Chicken may take a little longer to cook than hamburger.
The foil will come in handy for heating breads and other items on the rack as well. Great camping recipes can be created with ease with just a little bit of planning. Just because you are outdoors doesn’t mean the food has to be simple.
Plan your next camping trip by spending time thinking up some great camping recipes for your friends and family. You will be delighted, and so will they. All photos are links to Amazon products and reviews
